Progression of the dry eye in primary Sjцgren's syndrome in term of changes
of the autoimmune antibody titer
Abstract
The goal of the study is to analyse the connection between the clinical
progression of the dry eye and the im-munological deviations in primary
Sjцgren's syndrome.
We examine thirty patients with the diagnosis of primary Sjцgren's syndrome.
The follow-up period is one year, and we performe their examination in
three monthly intervals.
The ophthalmological examination consists of the measurement of:
• the tear production detected with Schirmer's test 1,
• the damage of the cornea epithelium getting into van Bijserveld score,
• and the stability of the precorneal tear film performed by break-up
time.
At immunological examination we detect:
• the antinuclear antibody titer
• the rheumatoid factor
• the anti-SS-A and anti-SS-B autoantibody titer
• and the anti-alfafodrin antibody titer.
During the follow-up period we research the immunological dynamics of
the patients suffering from primary Sjцgren's syndrome.
